Billy Napier didn’t make too many changes to the depth chart following Florida’s Week 1 loss to Utah, but injuries did force a few adjustments ahead of UF’s matchup with McNeese State on Saturday.
On offense, Eugene “Tre” Wilson has stepped into a starting receiver spot. Kahleil Jackson previously served as the starter, but he’s listed on the injury report this week as questionable with a lower-body injury. Wilson was one of the highest-graded passers for Florida in Week 1, though, so the drop-off, if any, should hardly be noticeable.
The tight ends room will also go with a different package to start the game on Saturday against McNeese State. Redshirt freshman Hayden Hansen is listed as the starter for the Gators with Tony Livingston questionable and dealing with an upper-body injury.
The core pieces of Florida’s offense will remain the same, though. Graham Mertz impressed at quarterback against Utah and could be in line for a career day against the Cowboys, and the tandem of Montrell Johnson Jr. and Trevor Etienne should dominate out of Florida’s backfield following a shaky Week 1.
The offensive line also remains intact, but that means that starting center Kingsley Eguakun will stay sidelined as he recovers from an injury suffered during fall camp. Quarterback Jack Miller III and receivers Marcus Burke and Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman are also questionable for Saturday.
Florida is only dealing with two injuries on defense. Cornerback Devin Moore is dealing with “a bad case of strep” and SAM linebacker Ja’Markis Weston is out with an upper-body injury.
Moore’s absence opens up the door for Jalen Kimber to get more playing time. Kimber and Moore were splitting snaps, with the former getting the better of a 70-30 share, but Moore being less than 100% means he’ll get most (if not all) of the opportunities this week.
The rest of the depth chart looks pretty familiar to Week 1.
