Revisiting the legacy of the US’ 1992 Dream Team

Today’s Team USA might not be able to hold a candle to Larry Bird and the Dream Team with 10 other Hall of Famers, but can anyone?

The 2023 Team USA playing in the 2023 FIBA World Cup may not be able to hold a candle to the 1992 Olympic Team for the United States of America.

Sometimes called the Dream Team, its star-studded roster included 11 future Hall of Famers (yes, really) including Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley and Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird. But then, no team since has.

Even with the “Hick From French Lick” late in his storied career and on his way out of the sport as a player, they won gold by an average of 43 points per game, a feat that will never be replicated.
