Ukrainian forward Svi Mykhailiuk signed a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics, and Spotrac’s Keith Smith reports some interesting wrinkles to the former Charlotte Hornet’s new deal.
Per Smith, Mykhailiuk’s deal is only guaranteed for $200,000 until opening night on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
If the Cherkasy native sticks with the team beyond that, the partial guarantee jumps to $1.2 million. The deal becomes fully guaranteed on the league-wide date in January. The move comes as the Celtics had been working out wings TJ Warren, Glenn Robinson and Lamar Stevens in a bid to to bolster their depth.
This likely signals the end of that search. Recent reporting from the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach related the team may look to add frontcourt depth if they fill the team’s 15th roster spot (h/t Celtics Blog’s Mark Aboyoun).
With training camp just weeks away, the order of the NBA’s Eastern Conference is coming into focus. https://t.co/2PFXhTDDJ2
