The Cubs defeated San Francisco, 11-8, Tuesday at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois.
Former Vol Yan Gomes started at catcher for the Cubs. He was 3-for-4, recording one double, two RBIs and one run. Gomes’ double is his 17th in 2023.
Gomes played at Tennessee from 2007-08 before transferring to Barry University.
He won the World Series with the Nationals in 2019. The former Vol was an American League All-Star with Cleveland. Gomes won a Silver Slugger Award while playing for Cleveland in 2014.
Chicago will next play Wednesday, concluding a three-game series versus the Giants.
First pitch is slated for 2:20 p.m. EDT at Wrigley Field.
