The Washington Commanders open the 2023 NFL season in five days when the Arizona Cardinals come to town. On Tuesday, Washington released its first unofficial depth chart ahead of the season opener.
We made our predictions for the offense and defense last week.
Here’s the Week 1 version from the Commanders:
Updated Week 1 depth chart for the Commanders …

No real surprises. Dax Milne is listed as the top punt returner. The Commanders will likely only use Jahan Dotson on special occasions as a returner, much the way DeSean Jackson was used in his career.
As Nicki Jhabvala pointed out rookie Ricky Stromberg is ahead of Tyler Larsen as the backup center. Chris Paul, who competed with Saahdiq Charles to start at left guard, is the backup at both guard positions.
The Commanders are currently dealing with injuries to starters Chase Young [stinger], defensive tackle Jonathan Allen [plantar fascitiis], wide receiver Terry McLaurin [toe] and tight end Logan Thomas [calf.] However, all three remain atop the depth chart.
Head coach Ron Rivera will likely give an update on those players on Wednesday.
