New Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders has always been a magnet when interacting with the media. Whether in his playing career or his newer gig coaching, Sanders always has something great to say to the media that’s covering him. On Saturday, he added to his highlight reel after his Buffs beat No. 17 TCU, 45-42.
Ed Werder of ESPN was assigned to cover CU’s opener against the Horned Frogs, likely due to his experience covering Texas sports, including the Dallas Cowboys in the mid-1990s when Sanders was playing. Could that be what led to this viral moment during Sanders’ postgame press conference?

Sanders is letting it be known that he is keeping receipts on the people who doubt him and his team. If Saturday becomes the norm, people are going to be running out of excuses quickly. For his part, Werder took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to show his excitement about being able to cover Saturday’s game:
Appreciate the thoughtful comments, Chill. It was a remarkable story, and I’m thankful to have been assigned to cover it. https://t.co/Lswog9Rxo9
