New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Demario Douglas has been generating buzz over the course of the preseason, and now, it’s reaching the mainstream media level.
During an appearance on “Good Morning Football,” Peter Schrager recently listed Douglas as one of his top-10 breakout players of the year.
Douglas’ emergence as a legitimate offensive weapon has been one of the biggest headlines throughout training camp and the preseason in New England. The sixth-round draft pick wears his confidence on his sleeve, and he even talked about wanting to make a statement in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.
There’s clearly been some bite to his bark with Schrager and others in the media starting to pay attention.
“He’s had an awesome camp and a legit role in this offense. ‘Pop’ Douglas is going to be a name we’re talking about this season,” said Schrager.

New England has many mouths to feed at the wide receiver position.
However, Douglas certainly has high-end potential. His athletic skill set and the chip on his shoulder make him a viable breakout candidate. If anything, he could give the position the spark it was missing last year.
