[autotag]Martin Truex Jr.[/autotag] missed the 2022 NASCAR playoffs but those days are nothing but a memory. Truex and the No. 19 team have absolutely crushed the competition over the second half of the 2023 season and even clinched the regular season championship at Daytona International Speedway. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver has made a complete turnaround with eyes on the title.
Truex has been to the Championship 4 on several occasions, including three straight times between 2017-2019. However, the driver of the No. 19 car talked about his chances in the 2023 playoffs during Media Day and sounded even more optimistic about his chances this season than in the past.

“I feel good. I feel as good as I ever have going into the Playoffs,” Truex said. “It’s been a really strong year for us, consistently up at the front, and doing what we need to do. Certainly, let a few wins slip away, which is always disappointing but to have three and the Clash win is a pretty good regular season, so you just have to keep putting yourself in the right position.”
Truex and William Byron have been the class of the field over the second half of the 2023 regular season and that seems likely to continue moving forward. If the No. 19 team can stay out of trouble, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Truex holding his second Cup Series trophy in November.
