Rajon Rondo on how he tried to outsmart opposing coaches instead of players

The Boston alum even took it to Brad Stevens in this way when he was with the Chicago Bulls.

When it came to trying to outsmart other players on the court, former Boston Celtics champion point guard Rajon Rondo took it up a notch. He tried to outsmart the other team’s head coach.

He tried to do that against current Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens when he was still coaching Boston and Rondo was a Chicago Bull.

This unusual approach is one of several examples brought up by the onetime Kentucky star on a recent appearance on the “Old Man and the Three” podcast. In a conversation with host JJ Redick, Rondo emphasized understanding opponents’ plays, anticipating coaches’ moves and staying steps ahead. All show the depth of his basketball IQ.
