After a lot of speculation, the Minnesota Vikings have secured one of their star players for the long haul. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Vikings have agreed on an extension with tight end T.J. Hockenson.
There were reports just last week that Hockenson wanted to reset the tight end market. The wording of this tweet says that he didn’t accomplish that, but paid as one of the top tight ends means that he is making at least $14 million this season.
The Vikings made a huge investment into Hockenson at the trade deadline last season by swapping a second and third-round pick for two fourth-round picks. That immediately injected the offense with life and Hockenson thrived, catching 60 passes for 519 yards and three touchdowns.
Moving forward, the Vikings have one of their biggest weapons secured for the long-term. Now, the focus moves to securing the talents of wide receiver Justin Jefferson.
