North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye enters the 2023 college football season as one of the best players not only at his position but in the game.
After an impressive first season as a starter, Maye returns for what is likely his final season in Chapel Hill. He is already receiving draft hype, being ranked behind only Caleb Williams of USC in terms of quarterback prospects.
But as we get set for the upcoming campaign, the ACC Network has completed its countdown of the top 25 returning players in the conference for 2023. And at No. 1 is Maye:
This really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone as Maye had a fantastic year in 2022, winning the ACC Player of the Year award. He was also voted as the preseason Player of the Year in the conference by the media.
It’s the latest honor for Maye going into the year as the hype continues around the quarterback. Now, he has to live up to it again.
