USA TODAY’s Eric Smith took a shot this week at projecting each bowl game ahead of the 2023 season.
The defending back-to-back national champion Georgia Bulldogs are expected to make the College Football Playoffs for a third consecutive year.
Smith has Georgia facing the Clemson Tigers in the semifinal at the Sugar Bowl, while the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Michigan Wolverines at the Rose Bowl.
Smith predicts the Bulldogs will face Alabama in the national championship in Houston, Texas (NRG Stadium).
If there’s one thing we’ve learned in the playoff era, it’s that anything can happen to shake up the top four teams at the end of the year.
That said, the Bulldogs’ talent and favorable schedule make them a safe bet to contend for another national title.
