The Cubs defeated Milwaukee, 1-0, Tuesday at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois.
Former Vol Yan Gomes started at catcher for the Cubs. He was 2-for-3 in the contest.
Chicago ended the Brewers’ nine-game winning streak.
Gomes played at Tennessee from 2007-08 before transferring to Barry University.
He won the World Series with the Nationals in 2019. The former Vol was an American League All-Star with Cleveland. Gomes won a Silver Slugger Award while playing for Cleveland in 2014.
Chicago will next play Wednesday, concluding a three-game series against the Brewers.
First pitch for the series finale is scheduled for 2:20 p.m. EDT at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
