Anthony Davis’ top 10 games of the 2022-23 season: No. 3

A look at Anthony Davis’ third-best performance of the 2022-23 season for the Lakers.

Two nights after a sensational performance versus Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, Anthony Davis looked to dominate once again, this time against the Washington Wizards.

The Wizards had an 11-13 record, and were hoping to make a run at the NBA playoffs or at least the play-in tournament. They had star big man Kristaps Porzingis, someone who, when healthy, is capable of giving Davis problems.

On this night, it was Davis who was a thorn in Porzingis’ side.

The Lakers’ superstar brought it early and often, throwing in 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting and grabbing nine rebounds in the first half as his team took a 68-50 halftime lead. Washington tried to chip away in the fourth quarter, but Davis held it at bay with 14 points in the period.

That gave him a monstrous 55 points on 22-of-30 field-goal shooting plus 17 rebounds and three blocked shots for the game, which L.A. won 130-119.

Davis had scored 99 points in a two-game span, continuing an incredibly dominant stretch for him that had started in mid-November.
