Exclusive: 3F Racing ‘absolutely’ still wants to enter NASCAR in 2023

3F Racing owner Dennis Hirtz talks to Motorsports Wire about the organization’s plans in the NASCAR Cup Series for 2023 and more!

[autotag]3F Racing[/autotag] announced in July 2022 that it planned to go racing in the NASCAR Cup Series with the No. 30 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The organization would have a technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing and become the first German-owned NASCAR team in the Cup Series.

To this point, 3F Racing has yet to hit the track for a Cup Series event, despite an initial plan of debuting at the Charlotte ROVAL in 2022. The organization then aimed for the first Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2023 before another delay to its plans. Now, the NASCAR organization seems close to figuring out the next steps.

Motorsports Wire talked to 3F Racing owner and founder Dennis Hirtz and asked if the organization was planning on making a Cup Series start during the 2023 season. Hirtz was adamant that it was still the plan.

“(3F Racing) is absolutely looking to race (in NASCAR) in 2023,” Hirtz told Motorsports Wire.

The up-and-coming owner continued and said the organization is working “hard” on entering NASCAR this fall and hopes to give positive updates on the situation “soon.”

Yet, this is not the first time 3F Racing has been in the news cycle this summer. The organization announced in July that it hired NASCAR driver Ryan Vargas as its Director of Team and Driver Development. It was also announced that Vargas will serve as the team’s reserve driver in the Cup Series. When asked about working with Vargas, the 3F Racing owner had a glowing review.

“Working with (Ryan Vargas) is fantastic,” Hirtz said. “He is a great addition to our team and brings a lot of expertise. I am looking forward to developing young drivers with him and also eyeing some starts with him.”

For now, 3F Racing will focus on figuring out the next steps as it continues to work hard on its entrance into NASCAR. The organization should have more updates soon as it continues to chase history as the sport’s first German-owned race team in the Cup Series.
