The Tennessee Titans are on the cusp of finalizing their initial 53-man roster, with cutdown day coming on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
After hitting the 53-man threshold, Tennessee will then put together its 16-man practice squad, so players who are let go still have a chance to stick in Nashville that way.
Most of the players who are cut will have to pass through waivers first if the Titans want to bring them back, either on the practice squad or the active roster. Players with four years of NFL service don’t qualify for waivers, making them free to sign with any team.
It’s important to note that this will be Tennessee’s “initial” 53-man group since there figures to be more roster shuffling in the weeks leading up to Week 1.
