Will Campbell to wear No. 7 patch for LSU this fall

Will Campbell will represent the No. 7 jersey in 2023.

Every year, LSU picks one of the biggest leaders on the team to wear the famed No. 7 jersey in the fall. This year, that will be a bit different.

Sophomore offensive tackle, [autotag]Will Campbell[/autotag] was awarded the No. 7 jersey today by [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] at practice.

As an offensive lineman, Campbell is unable to actually wear No. 7, so the workaround is that Campbell will wear a No. 7 patch right above the Nike patch on his jersey. Kelly made a point when he took the job that he wanted the best player from the state of Louisiana to wear the number.

He has also said that he wants LSU to be an offensive line lead program. Awarding Campbell with the famed No. 7 goes a long way to making that into a reality. Campbell started all 14 games as an Offensive Tackle for LSU last fall as he earned Freshman All-American honors and LSU Offensive Lineman of the Year.
