Steelers OC Matt Canada talks improved offense: ‘Nothing matters until we play a real game’

Matt Canada is seeing his offense run properly thanks in large part to the improvement of Kenny Pickett.

No matter how big a critic you have been of Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada, you have to give him some credit for just how good the Steelers offense has performed in the preseason.

Canada talked to the media on Saturday and seems to be very happy with what the offense did but noted that none of what we have seen will ma until the team starts playing real football.

Last season, the Steeler offense ranked near the bottom in both scoring and yards. Some of that was attributed to having a rookie quarterback under center who didn’t start the season at the No. 1. Canda is right in pointing out that a full offseason of Kenny Pickett getting all the first-team reps has really helped him which in turn helps the entire offense. We might see some new wrinkles once those real games get going but for now, what we have seen is the same offense Canada ran last season, just with much more efficient execution.
