Browns trade Joshua Dobbs to Cardinals; recall Kellen Mond from waivers

The move paves the way for DTR to take the backup QB role

Just hours after head coach Kevin Stefanski said that quarterback Joshua Dobbs would be the backup to Deshaun Watson the Browns have traded Dobbs to the Arizona Cardinals. Cleveland sends Dobbs and a 2024 seventh round pick to Arizona in exchange for a 2024 fifth round pick. The team also announced they never officially waived Kellen Mond and he will remain on the roster.

This reunites Dobbs and former Browns quarterback coach Drew Petzing who is the Cardinals’ new offensive coordinator. This move makes sense with the way rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson has played in the preseason while Dobbs struggled in the preseason and training camp.

Being able to flip a quarterback that you no longer needed to change a seventh-round pick into a fifth is a solid move by Andrew Berry.
