Michigan football has won the Big Ten two straight years and has been in the College Football Playoff two straight years.
Two is great, but three is better.
The Wolverines are prohibitive favorites to return to the last four-team College Football Playoff, but pundits are split on how far they’ll reach. Both years that the maize and blue have made it to the premier postseason series, they’ve been ousted in the first game.
ESPN had two analysts predict the 2023 bowl game matchups (subscription required) and while they both expect Michigan football to make it back to the playoff for the third straight year, only one expects the Wolverines to make it to Houston.

While it would be disappointing for the Wolverines to make it to the Rose Bowl and not emerge victorious, either matchup listed here is particularly intriguing. The USC matchup would be a precursor to the Big Ten matchup likely to happen in 2024, but would match the old-school Rose Bowl rivals matched up in the game for likely the last time.
But, the goal for 2023 should be to face Georgia again in the championship game and hopefully take home the trophy this time around.
