The player database Transfermarkt has released an updated listing of Major League Soccer’s most valuable players.
In an unsurprising development, even at at 36, Lionel Messi has been ranked as the most valuable player in MLS.
Transfermarkt uses a host of factors to determine a player’s valuation, including age, performance, potential, experience level, injury history, and many more.
Most players at Messi’s age are nowhere near his $38 million valuation but then again, most players aren’t Messi.
The three most valuable MLS players are all Argentines, with Messi’s World Cup teammate Thiago Almada and Austin FC star Sebastián Driussi rounding out the top three.
