Class of 2024 point guard Labaron Philon released his top schools list on Monday. Among those listed was the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Philon is an intriguing prospect to say the least. Prior to re-opening his recruitment, Philon was committed to in-state rival, Auburn.
Philon was named Mr. Basketball in Alabama following his junior season at Baker High School. He averaged 35 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game, and 3.9 assists per game.
Now, Philon will be suiting up for Link Academy (Mo.) for his senior season. Philon transferred to the Lions during the summer.
The move should not affect Philon’s recruitment. As it stands, Alabama and Ole Miss are in the best position to land his commitment. Cincinnati and Kansas are pushing but have more work to do in the coming months.
Needless to say, it will be interesting to see if Alabama’s coaching staff can get Philon on campus for a visit. That would certainly increase Alabama’s chances of landing the star guard prospect.
