Nebraska’s football program unveiled its $165 million facility two weeks before the start of the season. While the entire facility is not yet complete, welcoming the players to their new home is a step toward establishing a new culture.
The new Nebraska locker room is named in honor of Frank Solich. Solich spent time with Nebraska as a player and coach and succeeded the great Tom Osborne in 1998.
This project started prior to Matt Rhule being named the head coach, but he will be taking advantage of it: High-end facilities attract modern-day recruits. Rhule even stated this new facility will help with player development and post-game recoveries.
“I’ve had the chance to be around some of the best athletes in football You’ve seen the way they take care of their bodies. Trev’s allowed us from nutrition, to strength and conditioning, to sports science, recovery to put the best things in the world in that building, so we can be on the cutting edge,” stated Rhule to the Omaha Herald.
Those cutting-edge facilities likely will not be available until the end of the calendar year because Rhule and Nebraska’s athletic administration prioritized not disrupting the football rhythm, which meant getting the locker room ready was at the top of the list.
