Now fully healthy, Shilo Sanders shared that he’s in a good place mentally and physically ahead of his first season at Colorado.
The Buffs safety spoke to the media following fall camp practice on Monday and at least based on everything he said, Sanders is primed for a big year in his return to Power Five football.
“I feel good right now because last year I was coming off an injury in the spring,” Sanders said. “This is the smartest, strongest and fastest I’ve ever been, especially being coached by coach (Charles) Kelly and our staff. I got my dad Coach Prime (Deion Sanders) up here. They’re always teaching us hustling to the ball, effort and the stuff that really makes a difference between good and great because I’m trying to be great.”
Sanders, who has two seasons of college eligibility remaining, also said that his team entered this week “more locked in” with Colorado’s season opener at TCU now only 12 days away. It’s not game week quite yet, but you can tell that the Buffs’ focus is shifting from focusing on within to prepping for the Horned Frogs.
In his two previous seasons at Jackson State, Sanders recorded five career interceptions, 12 passes defended and 59 total tackles.
