The Tennessee Titans notched their first win of the preseason Saturday night against the Minnesota Vikings, with Tennessee securing a 24-16 victory on the strength of an impressive ground game and overall defensive effort.
While some starters took the field, the vast majority of them did not, which gave guys battling for roster spots another great opportunity to show they deserve to make the cut.
Most notably, the Titans deployed their entire projected starting offensive line for the first quarter and tight end Chig Okonkwo was out there, also. On the defensive side, defensive lineman Teair Tart was the only locked-in starter who saw snaps.
On the flip side, linebacker Monty Rice, who went from a projected starter at the start of training camp to a guy in danger of missing the cut altogether, was unable to suit up as he continues to deal with an undisclosed injury.
Rookie quarterback Will Levis also didn’t play, which was reported ahead of time. Levis got banged up at practice on Thursday, but he was in uniform and warming up prior to the contest, suggesting he’s fine.
Now, the full list of Titans who didn’t suit up in preseason Week 2. Players with an asterisk were absent from practice during the week or exited early and likely didn’t suit up because of injury. Players with a plus sign are projected starters.
