Seahawks injury updates going into preseason game vs. Cowboys

After a more thrilling than expected 24-13 win over the Minnesota Vikings last week, Seattle will look to tune things up further this evening.

The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for their second preseason game tonight against the Dallas Cowboys. After a more thrilling than expected 24-13 win over the Minnesota Vikings last week, Seattle will look to tune things up further this evening.

However, they will be doing so without a full compliment of players. Most notably, No. 5 overall pick Devon Witherspoon is still dealing with a hamstring issue, and will not play. Head coach Pete Carroll has stated Witherspoon is “running some” and will be reassessed when they return to the Pacific Northwest.

A couple of players trying to make their mark on the team also have some questionable status going in. Rookie center Olu Oluwatimi is dealing with an elbow injury. If he is able to play, Carroll will want him in. The starting center role is arguably the most intriguing position battle this preseason.

Additionally, two wide receivers who made major plays last week – Easop Winston Jr. and Matt Landers are dealing with some minor injuries as well. Their status seems to be up in the air, but perhaps trending in the wrong direction.

Ultimately, when it comes to preseason play, we’ll just have to wait and see.
