The Arizona Cardinals, with a new offense under offensive coordinator Drew Petzing, are expected to lean heavily on the run game. They want that to be part of their identity.
In 2023, they are expected to give James Conner a heavy workload. There is a huge level of respect Conner in the locker room and he has been productive in years past.
However, Conner does not make Touchdown Wire’s list of the top 11 running backs in the NFL and does not get even honorable mention.
Conner is getting top-11 treatment from the Cardinals. He has that potential.
He can be a 1,000-yard rusher and can contribute in the passing game.
But it is understandable why he doesn’t make the top 11 or get honorable mention.
He has never played a full season, missing games in every season because of injury. Twice he has reached 1,000 yards from scrimmage but he has never reached 1,000 rushing yards.
He has two years remaining on his contract. If he stays healthy, he is certain to have heavy usage and could produce the numbers in 2023 that would land him on this list next year,
