A former Husker continues to make headlines in training camp. Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer has been going viral during his first NFL training camp.
Palmer made his highlight catch in a joint practice with the New York Jets on Wednesday. He was able to beat NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and First-team All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner for the 60+ yard catch.
In his preseason debut last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Palmer made four catches for 33 yards and one touchdown. His score came on an 8-yard pass from Baker Mayfield with 12:20 remaining in the second quarter.
In his one year at Nebraska, the Louisiana native had 71 catches for a school-record 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns. Palmer was taken in the sixth round, with the 191st pick overall in the 2023 NFL draft.
The receiver is only the second player to break 1,000 receiving yards in a season after Stanley Morgan Jr. (1,004 yards – 2018). Find a photo gallery of Trey Palmer below.
