The Kansas City Chiefs tried their best to deliver their fans a win against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday but failed in the final minutes after a brutal interception thrown by Chris Oladokun doomed their valiant efforts.
Head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media shortly after the Chiefs’ loss to the Saints and told reporters about which players were injured during the hard-fought matchup.
Said Reid: “As far as injuries go, Nic Jones fractured a couple of fingers there. We will see how he does. [Anthony] Witherstone hurt his toe, his big toe. We have to see how that also does when we get back.”
All in all, two injuries after a game that was as intense as the one Kansas City played on Sunday isn’t too unendurable heading into the Chiefs’ second exhibition matchup. The loss of Nic Jones is certainly disappointing given the strong training camp he put together in St. Joseph, but Reid didn’t indicate that the rookie cornerback was expected to miss extended time.
Witherstone was a long shot to make Kansas City’s 53-man roster and could be a candidate to hit the waiver wire or secure an injury settlement in the coming days.
