In late July, Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, went into cardiac arrest while working out with his new University of Southern California teammates.

The younger James was hospitalized, and luckily his stay in the hospital was brief. However, many, including a number of doctors, have said his budding basketball career is in jeopardy following the incident.

One of the first steps toward determining whether it will be safe for him to keep playing basketball is to ascertain the cause of his cardiac episode.

According to TMZ Sports, he and his father were seen in Minnesota visiting the Mayo Clinic, a prestigious hospital for treating patients, doing research and educating medical students.

Via TMZ Sports:

“LeBron James and his son, Bronny, have jetted off to Minnesota … in an effort to seek out further treatment for the USC hooper following last month’s medical scare.

“The two touched down in Rochester at some point over the weekend … and they’ve been spotted in and around the Mayo Clinic there since — seemingly seeking further answers to why the 18-year-old suffered cardiac arrest back on July 24.”

It is not unheard of for young elite-level athletes to have heart problems, but it is certainly uncommon. As a result, the younger James’ promising basketball career has been put on the back burner for an undetermined amount of time.
