EA Sports college football video game aiming for Summer 2024 return

The long wait for a new EA Sports College Football title may come to an end next summer.

The long, national nightmare may soon be over.

It’s been a decade since the last EA Sports College Football title came out, but the franchise is set to return to the video game market next summer, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring back an authentic college football experience for fans and athletes that have shown such passion for the franchise, and we’re looking forward to delivering it in Summer 2024,” an EA Spokesperson said.

The game was originally planned for the summer of 2023, but EA opted to push things back a year, and then a lawsuit from The Brandr Group in June threatened to slow things down even further. EA has since filed a motion to dismiss the suit, but that’s still pending at publishing time.

The advancement of name, image and likeness rules in college sports has opened the door for the game’s return, and players will get paid this time around. No deal is official yet, but things should pick up pending the results of the Brandr lawsuit.

Many fans are still skeptical that the game will ever return, but things are looking good about a year out from the expected release.
