Jacksonville 2025 defensive lineman is offered by USC

The Trojans can always use reinforcements on their defensive line. This is one attempt to address that need.

Jyon “Big Catt” Simon was offered by USC this week, marking one of the defensive lineman’s biggest offers to date.

He currently holds offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Florida A&M, Maryland, and Texas, among others.

At 6-foot-3 and 282 pounds, Simon already has some impressive size. He is coming off a standout season at Parker High School in Jacksonville, where he had 17 total tackles, one sack, two tackles for a loss, and two quarterback hurries.

Jyon Simon is currently not ranked in any of the major recruiting services and has no crystal ball, but Florida A&M and Auburn are current favorites.

USC enters 2023 thinking it is better on the defensive line than it was one season ago. Yet, before the start of the season, the Trojans are still in a wait-and-see mode in terms of their defensive line. They need to see the proof before they can know with certainty that they have an elite, playoff-level defensive front. Getting reinforcements here, at this position group, is arguably more important than any other position group for the Trojans.

This would be one small step toward that goal.
