The New England Patriots reportedly signed defensive end Trey Flowers to a deal on Tuesday morning, per the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
New England hosted Flowers for a workout on Monday. He was originally drafted by New England in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL draft. He played the first four seasons of his career with the Patriots, before signing with the Detroit Lions in free agency in 2019. He was released by the team in March 2022.
Flowers had a brief stint with the Miami Dolphins last season. He signed with the team on August 28, but he was put on injured reserve on October 19.

Now, he reunites with New England to give them another pass-rushing weapon to boot.
Flowers’ familiarity with the New England defensive system and coach Bill Belichick will only make the transition smoother. This is a solid depth move for a defense that is already loaded at pass-rusher.
