The Houston Texans have settled on a starting quarterback — at least for the preseason.
The Texans released their official depth chart Monday night, and rookie C.J. Stroud was listed as the No. 1 quarterback atop the position. The Ohio State product will have the first series against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium Aug. 10.
Coach DeMeco Ryans laid out Monday what he would like to see from Stroud against the Patriots.
“From C.J., in this game, I just want to see a guy come out and command the huddle,” Ryans said. “Command the huddle, command the offense. Get us lined up, get everybody on the same page and just operate efficiently.”
Davis Mills was listed as the No. 2 quarterback and Case Keenum was the third option.
