Puka Nacua has been one of the bright spots of training camp for the Los Angeles Rams this summer, standing out as a fifth-round rookie. He’s getting even more opportunities now with Cooper Kupp sidelined by a hamstring injury and he’s taking full advantage of his added chances.
In practice on Sunday, Nacua made a terrific leaping grab over a defender, coming down with the reception along the sideline. It was a perfectly placed pass by Matthew Stafford, out of the reach of the cornerback, but Nacua made the tough grab look easy.
Nacua is squarely in the mix to be one of the Rams’ starting receivers and if he keeps making catches like this one while practicing with the first-team offense, he’ll pull ahead of Tutu Atwell, Ben Skowronek and Demarcus Robinson.
