B/R: Bills’ Greg Rousseau set for breakout 2023 season

B/R: #Bills’ Greg Rousseau set for breakout 2023 season”

Bleacher Report sees a productive season en route for Buffalo Bills pass rusher Greg Rousseau.

Rousseau led the Bills with 8.5 sacks in 2022, however, it took Von Miller’s knee injury in order for him to do that. On top of that, with more attention on Rousseau without Miller in the fold, it slowed down Rousseau’s production.

But this is a two-way street with good news: Miller will be back.

As it stands, Miller is starting to look like he could potentially be on the field for opening day. He remains on the PUP list, but it’s looking more and more likely.

All that considered, B/R named Rousseau on their list of eight pass rushers that will have a “breakout” season in 2023. In fact, if it wasn’t for an injury battle of his own, B/R says last season would’ve been Rousseau’s actual “breakout” year.

With both Rousseau and Miller back and health, plus the addition of Leonard Floyd, it could be a smart time to buy stock in Rousseau.

Here’s why B/R is high on Rousseau heading into 2023:

Had a midseason ankle injury not cost Greg Rousseau three-plus games, he might’ve fulfilled the “breakout” definition.

We can be patient, though.

Rousseau still tallied eight sacks and 18 pressures in those 13 appearances and—perhaps more notably—just 463 snaps. He finished among the most efficient pass-rushers in the league.

One legitimate obstacle is the amount of depth the Buffalo Bills have accumulated at the position. Rousseau and Von Miller are the starters, but Leonard Floyd, Shaq Lawson, A.J. Epenesa and Boogie Basham could all land regular snaps.

While that rotation may inhibit Rousseau from racking up stats, he’ll also theoretically be fresher in clear pass-rush situations.
