Steve Avila has gotten thrown straight into the mix at guard for the Rams despite being a rookie, getting first-team reps along the offensive line. And earlier this week, he went through his first padded practice as an NFL player.
If you’ve ever wondered what that experience is like, Avila shared a little peek behind the curtain during training camp when the Rams had him mic’d up for a practice. Over the course of the day, he went up against Marquise Copeland, Jonah Williams and Earnest Brown IV, even talking a little trash to Copeland after one play.
Avila got some tips from Andrew Whitworth and chatted with Hall of Famer Jackie Slater, too. And at the end, he admitted he didn’t say much because he was so dialed into practice.
“They are not gonna have anything to work with. I did not say a damn thing the whole practice, bro. I was locked in.”
