North Carolina’s 2023-24 men’s basketball schedule is starting to take shape here in the summer.
While we have known for months now that the Tar Heels would be a team in the Battle 4 Atlantis, we did not know the bracket or who UNC would face off against first.
Per Jon Rothstein, the Tar Heels will open up play in the tournament against Northern Iowa. Other first-round matchups include: Villanova vs. Texas Tech, Michigan vs. Memphis, and Arkansas vs. Stanford.
The winner of the Tar Heels and Panthers matchup will face off against the winner of Villanova and Texas Tech in the next round:
Battle 4 Atlantis bracket, per release:
North Carolina/Northern Iowa
Villanova/Texas Tech
Michigan/Memphis
Arkansas/Stanford— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) August 2, 2023
The two teams will face off on Nov. 22 with a noon tipoff scheduled.
For North Carolina, the Panthers have become a bit of a familiar foe over the years. The Tar Heels are 2-1 against them all-time including winning the past two matchups in 2016 and then again in 2017.
The Panthers upset North Carolina back in 2015 71-67 in what was a homecoming for guard Marcus Paige.
