The 2023 college football season is closing in and the Badgers are now 31 days away from their season opener versus Buffalo on Sept. 2. As we countdown towards the beginning of the year, wide receiver Al Toon’s career receptions is worth mentioning.
Toon spent three seasons with the Badgers from 1982-1984, operating as the team’s best wide receiver. In total, he recorded 131 catches for 2,103 yards and 19 touchdowns over his time in Madison.
The receptions rank ninth all-time in program history while the yards are the sixth highest and the touchdowns are fourth highest. Toon went on to be selected in the first round (10th overall) of the 1985 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.
Additionally, his son Nick Toon would spend four seasons with the Badgers from 2008-2011, also as a wide receiver, passing his dad’s receptions (171) and yards (2,447).
