Entering the 2023 season, LSU has a lot more apparent star power than it did this time last year. There’s no better evidence for that than the fact that the Tigers placed not one but two players on the preseason watch list for the Maxwell Award.
Quarterback [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] and receiver [autotag]Malik Nabers[/autotag] were both among the 85 players nationally who were named to the watch list for the award, which is given annually to the most outstanding player in college football.
[autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag] won the award for LSU in 2019.
Daniels and Nabers developed quite a connection during the 2022 season. The latter was able to break out due to improved quarterback play, finishing with more than 1,000 yards while leading the SEC in receptions and finishing second in receiving yards.

In addition to his passing performance, Daniels led LSU in rushing and set single-season program records for rushing yards and touchdowns from a quarterback.
Both players are expected to have big years on a team with playoff hopes.
