Former Alabama WR Calvin Ridley gives NFL defenders notice ahead of 2023 return

Calvin Ridley is ready to take over the league in his first season with the Jaguars.

A lot has changed since the last time we saw Calvin Ridley appear in an NFL game. The most recent game the former Alabama wide-out appeared in was on Oct. 24, 2021, as a member of the Atlanta Falcons. Since that game, Ridley has stepped away from football for mental health reasons, he served a one-year suspension for violating the league’s gambling policy, and he was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

However, a new challenge and a change of scenery seemed to be exactly what Ridley needs in his career at this point. Ridley was a second-team All-Pro receiver with Atlanta, but their lack of QB play and different timelines ultimately led the Falcons to part ways with him.

After spending nearly two years away from the game, Ridley’s body has never been in better shape. As I mentioned earlier, he also took time off in 2021 to improve his mental health so I believe that Ridley is in the right state of mind to produce at a high level in the NFL again. Ridley will now have one of the best young quarterbacks in the league in Trevor Lawrence.

Ridley is ready to remind the league that he’s still one of the best receivers in the game. The only thing Ridley has said of notice at camp to this point is, “I’m him.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Ridley and other former Alabama players in the NFL as the 2023 season approaches.
