UFC 291 results: Derrick Lewis takes pants off after running knee leads to TKO in opening seconds

In a wild sequence at UFC 291, Derrick Lewis hit Marcos Rogerio de Lima with a fight-opening knee. To celebrate, he took his pants off.

If there were any fans out there who thought they’ve seen it all in MMA, [autotag]Derrick Lewis[/autotag] going Jorge Masvidal-type of airborne for a flying-knee TKO – and then taking his pants of for a Degeneration X-style crotch chop – may have them rethinking things.

In a heavyweight bout on the UFC 291 main card, Lewis (27-11 MMA, 18-9 UFC) ran across the cage for a flying knee on the opening bell and finished  [autotag]Marcos Rogerio de Lima[/autotag] (21-9-1 MMA, 10-7 UFC) with follow-up punches 33 seconds into Round 1. The event took place at Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

In a move Lewis revealed he didn’t expect until it happened, “The Black Beast” showed off an unusual angle of his athleticism when he landed the knee. For the next 30 seconds, Lewis pounded away at de Lima, who covered up.

Upon referee Dan Miragliotta’s stoppage, Lewis immediately removed his Venum fight trunks and danced in his gray compression shorts. He chopped his crotch, a nod to legendary WWE faction DX.

After the fight, Lewis told commentator Joe Rogan the fight was the last on his promotional deal with the UFC.

Lewis, 38, snapped a three-fight skid while de Lima, 38, had a two-fight winning streak axed.
