Getting back on the field was huge confidence boost for Javonte Williams

Former UNC football RB Javonte Williams says his return to the field gave him a lot of confidence.

After former North Carolina running back Javonte Williams tore his ACL and MCL early in the 2022 season, there were reports that he may not be ready for Week 1 in 2023. But this offseason, Williams busted his ass to get back on the field and was cleared to start training camp.

With the Broncos opening up training camp this week, Williams is ready to get back out there and prove that he can be a physical runner once again.

Suffering that injury took a toll on Williams but during his rehab, getting back on the field is a huge confidence boost for him. Here is what Williams told Broncos.com writer Aric DiLalla:

“It was a surprise to me just hearing the doctors, seeing what everybody was saying about me,” Williams said. “… The doctor told me if I would’ve had a little bit more damage it could’ve been an even longer timeline. Just being back out here … is a huge confidence boost. I was down on myself a lot, but I’m seeing the brighter side now.”

As DiLalla noted, Williams is known for his bruiser-style running, being hard to bring down and breaking a lot of tackles. He’s been able to show that in his career so far but it’s been brief.

Now, returning from injury Williams is hoping to prove that he can be that runner once again.
