Michigan RB Blake Corum says Cade McNamara ‘might turn that thing around’ for Iowa

Once former teammates, Michigan’s Blake Corum shared high praise of Cade McNamara. That includes his belief in McNamara to turn Iowa around.

In the modern world of college football, there is an increasing occurrence of former teammates suiting up against each other with access to the transfer portal. Sometimes those relationships can sour if one side got burnt. Other times, those teammates are mature enough to know each individual is looking out for their personal best and the support stays strong.

The latter describes how Blake Corum, the Michigan Wolverines’ Heisman hopeful running back, feels about former teammate and current quarterback of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Cade McNamara. The running back was asked about McNamara at Big Ten media days and offered some high praise.

“He’s a great leader and a great, great human being,” Corum said of McNamara.

“He’s a general at the quarterback position. He’s going to lead Iowa and they are going to win some games. They might turn that thing around from last year,” Corum said when he was asked about Cade McNamara taking over the Hawkeyes’ offense.

One can safely assume that Corum is talking about the offensive output when he refers to “turning it around” as Iowa’s offense struggled mightily in 2022. He went on the mention the addition of another Michigan transfer, tight end Erick All.

“He and Erick got the connection. Great players, great teammates and they should do some big things. I’m rooting for the best. Hopefully, we both have wonderful seasons and we can meet each other (at Lucas Oil Stadium),” Corum finished with.

The Hawkeyes and Wolverines don’t draw each other in the regular season this year, but there are more than enough storylines ready to explode should they meet in Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship.
