The Pittsburgh Steelers traded up in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft so they could select offensive tackle Broderick Jones. It was a bold move but necessary and really highlights the aggressive stance this front office has taken.
General manager Omar Khan talked about the pick of Jones and his future as the team’s starting left tackle. Kahn made it clear what the expectations are. “We drafted him in the first round for a reason,” Khan said. Kahn followed it up with “he’s got to earn it,” in discussing the position battle between Jones and incumbent Dan Moore Jr.
Khan said he felt like the roster is set up well for several position battles including this one. This just makes this year’s training camp even more exciting and the promise of how good this team can be if the roster comes together.
