Recently, College Football News’ released their preseason top 25, which saw the Tigers ranked as the top team in the ACC, sitting at No.7 in the country.
The latest to come from CFN is their conference predictions, which started with the ACC. In these rankings, the Tigers landed at No.1 in the conference with a prediction of a 10-2 record and a 7-1 ACC record. The interesting stuff comes after Clemson.
CFN predicts three teams finishing tied for second between Florida State, North Carolina, and Pittsburgh. So, who do they predict to face Clemson in the 2023 ACC Championship? Not FSU, not UNC… but Pittsburgh.
Adopting the 3-5-5 schedule, there are no longer divisions in the ACC, so what this comes down to is the ACC record. All three of FSU, UNC, and Pitt are projected to go 6-2 in the ACC by CFN, with the site predicting Pittsburgh will beat both FSU and UNC during the regular season.
I’m lower on Pittsburgh than most, but CFN sees a path for them to return to the ACC Championship. If they are as good as the site expects, the ACC will be exciting in 2023.
