Nick Bosa not in camp with 49ers as contract negotiations continue

No surprise here, but Nick Bosa isn’t expected to practice until he and the #49ers agree on a long-term extension.

The 49ers on Tuesday reported to camp without defensive end Nick Bosa, who is still working with the team on a long-term contract extension.

Bosa’s absence amid contract negotiations isn’t a huge surprise. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year is entering the fifth and final year of his rookie deal for which he’s owed a fully guaranteed $17,859,000.

This isn’t necessarily a new development for the 49ers’ front office, which tends to take these long-term extensions either right up to the start of or into the first couple days of camp.

There hasn’t appeared to be any animosity between the two sides with Bosa and the 49ers both expressing optimism that a deal would get done. The contract could wind up making Bosa the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league though so it makes sense if the negotiations take a little longer than normal.
