College GameDay heading to Charlotte for UNC vs. South Carolina

ESPN’s College GameDay is heading to Charlotte for Week 1 between the UNC Football program and South Carolina.

The spotlight for Week 1 between North Carolina and South Carolina just got a little bigger.

On Monday, ESPN announced they are officially heading to Charlotte for the Week 1 battle between the Tar Heels and Gamecocks. After some speculation that they would head to Charlotte despite a Colorado-TCU matchup also a possibility, it’s now official.

The good news is that UNC will be featured for a College GameDay game this season but the bad news is that it’s not in Chapel Hill. However, fans will take it for this anticipated battle of the Carolinas.

This will be the 440th road show all-time for College GameDay but the first time they have visited for a UNC-South Carolina game. Hosted by Rece Davis, the show also features analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, and Pat McAfee. Insider Pete Thamel and reporters Jen Lada and Jess Sims are also on the show.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
