The 2023 USC football roster is not a finished product, but it is constantly undergoing revisions. A number of adjustments were recently made, and the revised roster was released Friday night after Pac-12 media day.
Any positional readjustment involving prominent USC players will draw headlines, but most of the attention will fall upon the Trojans’ defense. The USC offense just needs to stay healthy in order to be great. The weapons, the quality, the experience — they’re all in place for the Trojans’ offense, led by Lincoln Riley and Caleb Williams. USC has an elite play-designer and the best quarterback in college football for the 2023 season. Just give them a top-tier offensive line which doesn’t get shredded by injuries, and USC will cook.
On defense, it’s not that simple. USC has to figure out which players will give the Trojans the most value. Alex Grinch needs to determine where to slot all his players. Rotating players will be very important over the course of the season.
With all of this in mind, it is notable that Braylan Shelby and D.J. Peevy have been named RUSH defenders. We will see how permanent or far-reaching this roster adjustment turns out to be. USC’s preseason camp begins Friday, July 28.
Raleek Brown and Duce Robinson are both listed as wide receivers on USC's updated 2023 football roster released last night. Ceyair Wright is listed as a defensive back. Tre'Quon Fegans is listed as a cornerback. Braylan Shelby and DJ Peevy are listed as RUSH's.
