According to Dan Favale of Bleacher Report, the Brooklyn Nets could convince Damian Lillard to come to Brooklyn if a trade doesn’t happen.

The Brooklyn Nets have been scouring the NBA landscape to see if there was a trade that they could pull off to acquire a star-level player capable of making the team a definite playoff team. While such a trade has not materialized yet, some believe that the Nets may be able to convince a star to come to Brooklyn.

In a recent article from Bleacher Report, Dan Favale believes that Brooklyn is a realistic landing spot for Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard despite the reports saying that Lillard only wants to play for the Miami Heat. It’s clear that Lillard’s preference is to play for the Heat and he will do anything necessary to get there.

However, since the trade requires a third team to essentially help Miami get Lillard, there may be an opening for Brooklyn to potentially convince Lillard to accept a trade to the Nets. Favale points out in his article that Brooklyn has the assets necessary to satisfy the Trail Blazers in any deal along with the fact that Lillard is fond of the Nets’ best player, Mikal Bridges.

At this moment, Lillard coming to Brooklyn seems like a pipe dream due to the recent reports, but crazier things have happened in the Association. If this situation gets closer to training camp, it’s possible that Lillard could change his mind and if he does, the Nets would be back in business.
